A Decorative Saw Cut Patio

This project features a custom patio, set of stairs with clean, defined nosings, and a spacious pool deck, all designed for both function and visual appeal. To elevate the finished look, we added decorative saw cuts throughout the concrete, creating a refined, tile-like pattern that brings texture, symmetry, and a more high-end feel to the entire space.

Concrete Removal & Prepping the Base

The first step of this project was removing the existing concrete, followed by careful excavation and preparation of a solid gravel base. We then installed rebar for added strength and durability before forming the layout for the pool deck, patio, and steps, setting the stage for the pour.

The Pouring Stage

Pour day is always an exciting stage of the project, and this one was no exception. With everything prepped and ready, we carefully placed and finished the concrete to achieve a smooth finish, even surface across the patio, pool deck, and steps. The end result is a clean, solid finish that really brings the whole space together.

The Next Stage

The next step in the project is getting the remaining section of the patio ready for the final large concrete pour. This involves carefully preparing the base, setting the forms, and making sure everything lines up perfectly so the new pour blends seamlessly with the work already completed for a smooth, continuous finish.

The Decorative Cuts & Layout

We carefully snapped layout lines across the entire surface to map out the saw-cut pattern in detail. After reviewing and confirming the design with the homeowners, we began making the cuts. These are shallow, precision cuts designed to create the appearance of individual tiles, adding a clean, custom finish to the concrete.

After finishing the cuts, and applying a penetrating sealer the concrete side of our work is done on this project. We then brought in some turf mix so that grass seed can be planted to fix up the construction area. The last stage of this backyard reno, is for the pool company to install the pool liner and refill the pool.
