Steep Grade Modern Concrete Staircase

Built for the steep grades common on North Shore properties, these custom concrete steps provide safe and durable access alongside the driveway, finished with a broom finish for maximum grip and year-round traction.

Removal and Excavation

The project began with removing the old existing steps and hauling away all debris, followed by excavation to the proper depth so the new steps could be built with adequate concrete thickness and a solid compacted gravel base.

Forming The Steps

With over 20 risers on this staircase, precise forming was essential. Each step was carefully measured and laid out to ensure consistent rise, proper run, and accurate slope throughout the entire set. After the forms were completed and rebar installed for reinforcement, everything was in place and ready for the concrete pour.

Pour Day

The steps were poured with precision, carefully placing concrete to build a strong, continuous staircase down the steep grade. Once it reached the ideal set, a crisp broom finish was applied, giving each step a clean, textured surface that enhances definition while providing excellent traction and a modern look.

The Finished Product

After the concrete had properly cured, the forms were carefully removed and the finished staircase was revealed—clean, durable broom-finish concrete steps built for long-term performance, providing safe and reliable access down the steep driveway.
